Pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges faced by the world today. It refers to the contamination of air, water, and land by harmful substances that negatively affect living organisms and the environment.
Types of Pollution
1. Air pollution : It occurs when harmful gases, smoke, and dust mix with the air. It is mainly caused by vehicles, industries, and burning of fuels like coal and petrol.
2. Water Pollution : Water pollution happens when waste materials, chemicals, and sewage are released into rivers, lakes, and oceans, making the water impure.
3. Soil (Land) Pollution: Soil pollution is caused by dumping garbage, plastic, and chemicals on land, which contaminates the soil.
4. Noise Pollution : Noise pollution refers to unwanted and excessive sound produced by vehicles, machines, loudspeakers, and other sources.
