Climate change
“The Earth is what we all have in common.” —
Wendell Berry
This quote reminds us that no matter where we live or who we are, we all share one planet. The Earth provides us with air, water, food, and shelter. If we harm it, we harm ourselves.
Climate change is the long-term change in Earth’s climate, especially the increase in global temperature.
Causes of Climate Change
- Burning of coal, oil, and gas increases greenhouse gases
- Deforestation reduces oxygen and increases carbon dioxide
Effects of Climate Change
- Rising global temperatures (global warming)
- Melting glaciers and rising sea levels
- Extreme weather events like floods, droughts, and heatwaves
Solutions to Climate Change
- Use renewable energy like solar and wind
- Plant more trees and protect forests
- Reduce, reuse, and recycle waste
- Save electricity and water in daily life
