"How Plants Make Their Own Food"

Image
Plants are amazing living things because they can make their own food. Unlike humans and animals, plants do not depend on others for food. They use sunlight, water, and air to prepare their food through a process called photosynthesis . What is Photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants make food in their leaves using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide. The food produced is called glucose, which gives energy to the plant for growth and survival. Plants follow these steps to make their food :  Roots absorb water from the soil  Leaves take in carbon dioxide from the air through tiny pores called stomata  Chlorophyll (green pigment in leaves) traps sunlight energy  Using sunlight energy, plants convert water and carbon dioxide into food (glucose)  Oxygen is released into the air as a by-product Equation of Photosynthesis 6CO₂ + 6H₂O + Light Energy → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂ This means carbon dioxide and water, in the presence of sunlight, produce glu...

Ecosystem: The Balance of Nature

Image
An Ecosystem is a community where living organisms interact with each other and with their physical environment. It is the foundation of life on Earth, helping maintain balance and supporting all living beings.     An ecosystem includes: Biotic factors (living things) – plants, animals, microorganisms Abiotic factors (non-living things) – sunlight, water, air, soil, temperature.  Types of Ecosystems :  There are different kinds of ecosystems found on Earth: Terrestrial Ecosystems (land-based) Forests  Deserts  Grasslands  Aquatic Ecosystems (water-based) Ponds and lakes  Rivers  Oceans    Importance of Ecosystem Ecosystems are very important because they: Provide food, water, and oxygen Maintain balance in nature Support biodiversity (variety of life) Help in climate regulation Without ecosystems, life on Earth would not exist. Conclusion :  An ecosystem is a beautiful and complex system where living and non-living things work ...

Save water, save life

Water is one of the most precious natural resources on Earth. It is essential for all living beings—humans, animals, and plants. Without water, life cannot exist. Despite its importance, water is being wasted and polluted at an alarming rate. This is why the message “Save Water, Save Life” has become more important than ever. Water plays a vital role in our daily lives. It is used for drinking, cooking, cleaning, farming, and many other purposes. Farmers depend on water to grow crops, and industries need it for production. Even our bodies are made up of about 70% water, showing how important it is for survival. Wasting water not only affects humans but also harms the environment.  Plants and animals suffer when water sources dry up.  This can disturb the balance of nature and lead to serious consequences like droughts and food shortages. Saving water is not difficult. Small steps can make a big difference.  We should turn off taps when not in use,  fix leaking pip...

The Force That Holds the Universe Together

Image
Gravitation – The Force That Holds the Universe Together 🌟 Introduction  :  Gravitation is the invisible force that attracts objects toward each other and keeps everything in the universe in balance. 🧲 What is Gravitation?  Gravitation is the force of attraction between any two objects that have mass. This force acts everywhere in the universe, whether between planets, stars, or even small objects like a pen and a book. Discovery of gravitation : The concept of gravitation was explained by the famous scientist   ISAAC NEWTON .  According to a popular story, he observed a falling apple and began thinking about why objects fall toward the Earth. This led to the discovery of the law of universal gravitation. Importance of gravitation:    Holds the atmosphere around the Earth Keeps planets in orbit around the Sun Maintains the structure of galaxies Makes life possible on Earth CONCLUSION   Gravitation is a fundamental force that governs the motion ...

Motion and its types

Image
Motion :    Motion is defined as the change in position of an object over time. If an object changes its position relative to a reference point, it is said to be in motion.                                           Types of Motion There are different types of motion observed in our daily life: Linear Motion :  When an object moves in a straight line, such as a car moving on a straight road. Circular Motion : When an object moves in a circular path, like a fan or a spinning wheel. Rotational Motion : When an object rotates around its own axis, such as the Earth spinning. Oscillatory Motion : Back-and-forth motion, like a swinging pendulum. Conclusion Motion is everywhere in our universe. From small particles to large planets, everything is constantly moving. Understanding motion helps us explore the laws of nature and improves our daily life through technology and innov...

Importance of Plants in Our Life

Image
Introduction Plants are one of the most important parts of life on Earth. They are the primary source of food, oxygen, and many essential resources. Without plants, life would not be possible for humans and animals. They maintain balance in nature and support all living organisms.                        Importance of Plants 1. Source of Oxygen :  Plants produce oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. This oxygen is necessary for the survival of all living beings. 2. Provide Food :  Plants are the main source of food for humans and animals. Fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts all come from plants. 3. Maintain Ecological Balance :  Plants help in maintaining the balance of gases in the atmosphere by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. 4. Provide Medicines  :  Many medicines are made from plants. Herbs and medicinal plants are used to treat various diseases. 5. Prevent Soil Erosion : ...

Pollution

“ We won’t have a society if we destroy the            environment.”  Pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges faced by the world today. It refers to the contamination of air, water, and land by harmful substances that negatively affect living organisms and the environment. Types of Pollution 1. Air pollution   : It occurs when harmful gases, smoke, and dust mix with the air. It is mainly caused by vehicles, industries, and burning of fuels like coal and petrol. 2. Water Pollution :  Water pollution happens when waste materials, chemicals, and sewage are released into rivers, lakes, and oceans, making the water impure. 3. Soil (Land) Pollution:  Soil pollution is caused by dumping garbage, plastic, and chemicals on land, which contaminates the soil. 4. Noise Pollution :  Noise pollution refers to unwanted and excessive sound produced by vehicles, machines, loudspeakers, and other sources . Causes of Pollution...

Healthy vs Junk food

Introduction  :    Food is an important part of our                                            da ily life. What we eat affects our body , mind , and overall health. Today, many people, especially teenagers are confused between choosing healthy and Junk food. Now understand the difference between why it matters.                      HEALTHY FOOD :   Healthy food includes natural and nutritious items like :  Fruits and vegetables  Milk and dairy products  Whole grains Nuts and pulses      These food are rich in vitamins, minerals and energy that help our body grow and stay strong.  Benefits of healthy food :  Improves immunity  Helps in proper growth  Keeps the mind fresh and active JUNK FOOD :  Junk food is that which is high in calories but lo...

ENERGY

Energy :  Energy is the ability to do  work. It cannot be created nor destroyed. It can only change from one form to another. It exists in various forms, including kinetic, potential, thermal, electrical, chemical and nuclear energy.                       Sources of Energy:  Renewable energy sources :   Renewable energy sources are naturally replenishing, virtually inexhaustible energy sources derived from the sun, wind, water, earth's heat, and biomass. Non-renewable energy sources :     A non-renewable source of energy is a natural resource that exists in limited quantities and cannot be replaced or replenished on a human timescale once used. These resources take millions of years to form and are generally extracted from the ...

Climate change

“ The Earth is what we all have in common.” —                                                                                         Wendell Berry This quote reminds us that no matter where we live or who we are, we all share one planet.
